Wine as a commodity is a race to the bottom where wines compete on price alone and not on quality. It is assumed that consumers who buy these wines do not have sophisticated taste therefore quality does not matter nearly as much as price.

All wines in between these two extremes are either overpriced commodities or aspiring to become luxury wines. Jules is targeting consumers who are unhappy with this status quo, who want to find mid-priced wines that best suit their palate.

What top wine experts say about us:

Younger generation winemaker from Provence with this friendly, come-hither rose brand. Even the name ‘Jules’ draws a small smile, in the context of a rose (for no reason other than it is friendly in my mind). It’s merlot and carignan in alliance in this wine. Righteous, simple, gluggable Provence rose of high vitality and refreshment factor. Rose petal, watermelon juice, light red berry fruit sweetness – the bouquet is appealing as. Tangy and fresh to taste, bright and crisp in nature. A light buzz of sweet, berry fruitiness jostles with electric, gently saline acidity. Pleasing as can be. No brainer for good times drinking.

Eye: Purple garnet. Nose: elegant, complex, ripe, grenadine, cocoa, red fruits. Palate: tender and greedy, light and melted, back on the strawberry, beautiful finish. Bottom line: A lovely, all-season wine, the kind of red to drink refreshed for fun. 3 stars. A quality wine to follow.

A happy marriage, judging by the opinions of the jurors: clear and clean dress, adorned with golden yellow reflections, a fine bouquet of white flowers, simple and unabashed elegance of the palate, soberly floral and fruity.

Le Guide Hachette Des Vins

A solid value, the 2018 Cotes de Provence Rose is a blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, aged in concrete tanks. Citrus and strawberry notes lead the way in this light to medium-bodied wine, which delivers a plump, silky mouthfeel and citrus zest on the finish.

Well-priced southern French rosé, with a succulent, juicy note and subtle hint of spice. Try it with tomato couscous.

The Telegraph

OK, the packaging is simple and inoffensive but the flavour is anything but. Melodic, enchanting and timid, but also long and soothing, this is a sotto voce rosé for all palates to relax with and, at a tenner, it is an absolute steal.
