LE GRAND CROS

La Rivale

More zesty and frivolous than her older sister “La Maitresse”, the charm of “La Rivale” lie in her fresh yet delicate character. It is a charmat method sparkling rosé made from estate grapes at Domaine du Grand Cros in Provence.

Thanks to our altitude and the microclimate of our estate, we enjoy relatively fresh temperatures for Provence which allow us to obtain the natural acidity ideal for sparkling wine.

Cinsault, Rolle, Mourvèdre.
Hand harvest.
Each plot is vinified separately. The clusters are pressed quickly with a separation of the seeds and the presses. Decantation by intense cold. Control of fermentation temperatures. After fermentation and stabilization, second fermentation in stainless steel tank.
Lychee crystalline pink. The nose has delicate aromas of strawberry, fresh almonds and white flowers. The mouth is fresh and fruity, the bubbles fine, the finish pleasant and refreshing.

La Rivale is currently only available for delivery in France and United Kingdom, but we have a strong network of retailers all around the world.

"A deliciously elegant wine with hints of roses, strawberry and just a touch of brioche. Refreshing and understated."

BRONPTON QUATERLY

Rosé wine with a pale colour also sparkling with quite young vivid bubbles. Rich and generous nose, good purity of fruit, some floral notes, hints of red berries, citrus. Creamy texture on the palate, rather full for being a sparkling wine, with a quite mellow acidity, rounded. I suppose this should be judged more as a rosé wine than a sparkling wine. I think we all tend to compare sparkling wines with champagne all the time but I think it’s very reminiscent of a rosé de Provence in terms of structure, with a generous fruitiness. It still gets a good notion of freshness thanks to the mousse and the bubbles. Quite persistent on the palate, pleasurable with some zesty grapey notes on the finish, some discreet red fruity notes. Youthful and fresh, interesting style, and well made.

Provence is known for its rosé wines, but this is a little different – a sparkling version, perfect for an afternoon in the park or lazing in the back garden. A blend of Mourvedre and Cinsault, it’s a deliciously elegant wine with hints of roses, strawberry and just a touch of brioche. Refreshing and understated.

Brompton Quaterly

A lot of seduction in this beautiful wine, with a very nice pale colour, pastel and sweet. While serving, the mousse is present, the bubbles refined, regular and plentiful. The nose is elegant, on hazelnut and grilled bread notes. There are also hints of small red berries. The mouth is lively and open. The wine is balanced, and gets rounder on the taste buds during tasting. A lot of generosity in this wine.

Full and fat mousse over peachy fruit, acidity and an earthy character. This sparkling wine from Provence finishes with some crushed strawberry sweetness.
